The holidays are upon us. These clips make up really fast and are very pretty - they'd be a great last-minute gift or even a last minute accessory for yourself.

This tutorial uses these Items from the Savvy Woman's Beading Emporium:

You'll also need these supplies:
  • 1 yard Organza Ribbon (I used red)
  • Scraps of 22 or 24 gauge wire
  • Thread to match the ribbon
The tools you'll need are:
  • Flat Nosed Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Needle Nosed Pliers
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Needle
The instructions and amounts that follow are for ONE clip.

Thread your needle, knot the end of the thread and using ½ yard of the ribbon, make a running stitch along the bottom.

Pull the thread tight, gathering the ribbon into a small puff, as shown. Keep the ribbon straight as you pull it (meaning don't twist it around). Fold over the ends of the ribbon together, and stitch them neatly to keep them from ravelling.

Now you need to make a spiral. Start by making a tiny loop with your needle nosed pliers, and then use your flat nosed pliers to twist the spiral as shown. Make it about as big as the cloisonne bead, and leave a long tail as shown. That will make it easier to work with later.

This spiral isn't really going to show, so you don't need it to be especially uniform in size, but you do need the spaces between the rounds.

Cut the wire and use your needle nosed pliers and make a wrap a small loop around the spiral to close the loop, as shown here.

Now stitch the ribbon onto the spiral, flattening it in the area that covers the spiral. There will be quite a bit of ruffle around the outside of the spiral. The picture shows the back of the clip. Turn it over and sew the button to the front of the clip. After you've sewn the button on, turn the clip back over and stitch the shoe clip to the metal spiral. Double check that you're sewing the clip so that the flower is straight (and you won't have to do it twice like I did).

And here's the final product.
